Matt is a maritime attorney and veteran navy reserve Commander. Matt grew up around the water operating sail and power boats. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served two sea tours on naval warships and one shore tour as a seamanship and navigation instructor. Matt holds a U.S. Coast Guard 100 Ton Master's License.
In the reserves, Matt served with Military Sealift Command, and commanded a unit supporting U.S. Navy's Sixth Fleet. Matt deployed once to Afghanistan (earning a Bronze Star), and mobilized twice to U.S. Central Command (earning a Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Joint Service Commendation Medal).
Matt graduated from Florida State University College of Law (earning the Book Award in Admiralty Law). He is admitted to the Florida Bar and all Federal District Courts in Florida.
